Mike Schlappi, four-time Olympic medal winner and two-time World Champion has proven that just because you can't stand up, doesn't mean you can't stand out. He is the only wheelchair basketball player in the United States to compete in the past four Olympic games in Seoul, Barcelona, Atlanta, and Sydney. Recently a national award winning video was produced about Mike's life. He was honored by the state of Utah as one of its Top 50 athletes of the past century. He serves on the Board of Trustees that will be overseeing the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and NO! he did not accept any bribes. Mitt Romney the President and CEO of the 2002 Olympic Games said "Mike's accomplishments remind each of us of the power of the human spirit to rise above all adversity. Mike truly walks his talk as he verbally and visually inspires everyone to light the fire within." Mike earned his Bachelors Degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University. As a member of the National Speakers Association, his presentations have inspired thousands of audiences to adapt and overcome. He is an author who has written and published two books about success and motivation: Bulletproof Principles for Striking Gold; Motivational Leaders. Mike and his wife Tami have five children and reside in Draper, Utah. Although Mike was paralyzed in a tragic accident, he hasn't let it paralyze his dreams. |
